The Aburi Gardens were built in the 1800's by the British and they continue to be a model arboretum. There are many trees planted by visiting diplomats and officials (including the British Monarchy), but the main attractions are the long standing trees such as the 'Stranglers Ficus'. There are several cafes and restaurants on the premises as well as a hotel. Aburi is a short distance from the capital city of Accra, and can be accessed easily by public transportation (Tro-Tro).
